Existential Moment

That existential moment
when finite and infinite
eternity and now
can, will, might
and probably not
swirl and swell
and do not come to rest
yet we persist…

Stand Your Ground

Grip5Hands_TX_640

OneRace, by WayneSL, 2012

song lyric by Wayne E. Slater-Lunsford, 2012

Down in Sanford better watch out where you’re walking,
buying Skittles and tea and Cell ‘phone talking,
’cause some Nazi may be stalking you,
to kill you just for Standing your Ground!

There’s a new wind that’s a- blowing
and the river of change is overflowing,
and the peoples’ power is a-growing,
‘cause we’re learning to stand our  ground!

Sister and brother let’s stand with each other;
together we can Stand Our Ground;

and we’ll rise up from despair,
meet our brothers and sisters from everywhere;
there’ll be room to spare when we learn to share;
and when we learn to Stand Our Ground.

Folks need more education,
and a lot less incarceration.
We don’t want a prison corporation nation,
and we’re gonna stand our ground.

The robber barons think that they have shown us
that we gotta work for them, because they own us
but we’re done with bendin’ over while they bone us
‘cause we’re learning to stand our ground.

Sister and brother let’s stand with each other
Together we can Stand Our Ground;

and we’ll rise up from despair, meet our
brothers and sisters from everywhere;
there’ll be room to spare when we learn to share;
and when we learn to Stand Our Ground.

Sister and brother let’s stand with each other
Together we can Stand Our Ground.

Sister and brother let’s stand with each other
together we can Stand Our Ground.

Rigid ISMS

ISMS

Original art by WayneSL

song lyric by Wayne Slater-Lunsford, 1998~2012

We all live here, in the valley-
and we dance beside the river, deep and  wide.
and our voices harmonize here;
and we  share the river’s  love along both  sides.

Bayanihan, and Ubuntu
and Aloha and Communion all are  one.
and our  planet gives us plenty,
If we  learn to share and  let the river  run.

Who’s that yelling a cross the divide?
That   shadow in the sunset looming  long?
They’re screaming at the other ridge as loud as they can,
but it Seems to me that both extremes are wrong.

From the dawning to the   evening
Some fools  on the ridges throwing rocks across,
but the rocks land here in the   valley
and  it’s the folk down  here that pay the cost.

I don’t know why you would listen to them.
They  speak of love but fear is how they rule.
They  tell us we’re all beggars and that they should be   kings
Don’t  let those ISMS get the best of you.

Yes, we  live here in the  valley
not up  on the ridges where the air is thin.
where our  shadows can out grow us
and our  voices echo  but our thoughts are dim.

I don’t know why you would listen to them.
They  speak of love but fear is how they rule.
We’re all one race of  humans and you know that it’s true.
Don’t  let those ISMS get the best of you.

We’re all one race of  humans and you know that it’s true.
Don’t  let those  ISMS  get the best of you.
Don’t let ISMS get the best of  you.

Best Quit Messing Up

BusyLife

BusyLife by WayneSL, 2014

WayneSL 1977~2012

Best Quit Messing Up, or the goin’ could get rough
Don’t you know the reason for the pain?
You know what causes it, but you do it just the same,
again and again, again and again

CH: It’s all right, we’re gonna make it
Don’t have to fake it__ any_ more.
It’s all right, ‘cause we’re learning__
the peace that we’re yearning for.

We bought a pie up in the sky
It turned to whipped cream in our eyes
We learned the magic math on which it all depends.
We wasted bread and breath on imaginary friends,
but now it ends__ the fable ends. (CH)

Down through the ages, class war rages.
The Martians mess up all the pages.
Don’t you see, they have us fighting over lies-
so busy we don’t see them right before our eyes
stealing our lives—our very lives! (CH, break > climax, 6/8)

CODA in 6/8:
We, the People, together, have all that we need.
We can see through the pain and the lies.
We have each other and love, & We don’t need greed.
In the dawn, we can see through new eyes. (CH in 6/8)
